Art and Sexuality: the role of art exhibitions in the last decade
On November 19 at 5pm at Palácio Anjos, a conversation about Art and Sexuality: the role of art exhibitions in the last decade with Sandra Vieira Jürgens, Isabel Baraona, Emília Ferreira and moderated by Fabrícia Valente, co-curator of the exhibition.
Sandra Vieira Jürgens is a curator and art historian. She was part of the 2015-2016 International Research Residencies programme of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Madrid). She has directed the online magazine Wrong Wrong and the digital platform raum. She is the author of several publications, books, essays, interviews and texts on contemporary art in catalogues published by national and international art institutions. Besides being curator of the State Contemporary Art Collection, she has developed several exhibitions and cycles for entities such as MAAT, MNAC, CGD/Culturgest, Vila Franca de Xira Photography Biennial, among many others. She was editorial consultant of ARTE LISBOA – Contemporary Art Fair, between 2005 and 2010. He coordinated the national and international communication of the Portuguese official representations at the Venice Biennale and the São Paulo Biennale, in the areas of art and architecture. She was coordinator of the Committee for the Acquisition of Contemporary Art for the biennium 2019-2020. She is vice-president of AICA Portugal – International Association of Art Critics.
Isabel Baraone has a degree in Painting (La Cambre, Belgium) and has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Portugal and abroad. She is represented in national and international collections such as MGFR, Safira and Luís Serpa, Centro Português de Serigrafia, Yolande De Bontridder, Galila Barzilaï-Hollander, among others. He has been teaching at ESAD.CR/IPLeiria since 2003.
Emília Ferreira has a degree in Philosophy and a Masters and PhD in the History of Contemporary Art from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. She is an art historian, teacher, lecturer, curator, educator through Art, programmer, organizer of scientific events and author of fiction. Since 2017, she has been director of the National Museum of Contemporary Art and the Dr. Anastácio Gonçalves House Museum.
